Apple Rolls Out iOS 27 Developer Beta 3 with New Features and Performance Improvements
Apple releases iOS 27 Beta 3 with a new Siri voice, Live Recognition, a redesigned Reminders icon, and several bug fixes. Here's everything new.

Apple Releases Third Developer Beta of iOS 27 with New Features and Bug Fixes
Apple has rolled out the third developer beta of its upcoming mobile operating system, iOS 27. The release arrived roughly two weeks after the previous beta, landing on July 6, 2026, and carries the build number 24A5380h.
How to Download
Developers enrolled in Apple's developer program can grab the update directly through the Settings app. Simply go to General, then Software Update, select Beta Updates, and choose the iOS 27 Developer Beta option.
What's New
This build brings a handful of noteworthy additions, including a new Siri voice for supported devices, a Live Recognition feature integrated with the Camera app, a redesigned icon for the Reminders app, and a fresh swipe-down animation for wallpapers.
Beyond these visible changes, Apple has also focused on general performance, with improvements aimed at faster app launches, quicker Photos loading, and smoother overall system responsiveness.
Under-the-Hood Changes for Developers
While the update doesn't bring many flashy changes for everyday users, it introduces a significant shift for developers. The most notable change restricts background access to the Neural Engine — apps that want to run inference in the background now need a new entitlement to do so, a move designed to prevent unnecessary battery drain from unchecked background processes.
Known Issues
As with any beta release, several known bugs have been flagged. These include audio dropping out in CarPlay when switching between Spatial and Stereo content, slower Siri responses on CarPlay under high device temperatures or weak network conditions, and difficulty stopping an alarm from the lock screen without fully unlocking the device.
What Comes Next
Apple is expected to release the public beta of iOS 27 sometime this month, with the final, stable version arriving in September alongside the new iPhone lineup. As always, everyday users are advised to avoid installing beta software on their primary devices, given the likelihood of bugs, increased battery consumption, and app compatibility issues.
